"I am proud to say that I PR'ed almost a minute from last years time trial and that I more than secured a spot on the App State group going to North Carolina. I think my first mile was 5:46, but to tell you the truth I was not worried about my time, I wasn't even going to wear my watch because the only thing I wanted to do out there was race my girls and catch them and that is exactly what I did, I passed 4 girls on my team the last mile and a half. I knew only 12 girls were going to App state and I also made up my mind that I was going to be one of them. Thanks so much for all of the support!"
"I wanted to thank you very much for your fantastic advice on nutrition, stretching and coaching. I feel better and stronger since I began running with the group in the Spring and doing your Wed night runs. My time has gotten a lot better. Keep on giving us good advice, the more the better!!! I really appreciate it."
"Joey's (Jose) infectious enthusiasm for sports nutrition makes it fun and interesting for me (and my runners attending the Suzy Favor-Hamilton running camp). He's a great asset and a wealth of knowledge!"
"Put Sonja on your team and you will win; more importantly, you will learn the process of winning."
"Sonja's inspiring, she's a motivator and she's dedicated to her profession. Her strengths have helped me become a better and stronger runner! Thank you Sonja, for all of your help. I would recommend you to any dedicated runner , any age!"
"Jose's and Sonja's love for the sport and their knowledge of nutrition inspired my runners to aim for the sky, and dare to dream the 'impossible dream.' I very much look forward to their continued involvement in my quest to make FAU's track and cross-country team a national powerhouse."
"I just wanted you to know that my longstanding dream of breaking 22 minutes in the 5k finally came true. On July 4th, at my very favorite 5k race, the Medina twin sizzler in Ohio, I ran 21:57. If I had not attended your 8 week nutrition course as well as track workouts I would never have finally achieved this goal. Thanks for your ongoing support and enthusiasm for our running dreams!!"
"I contacted Sonja in January asking if she could help me improve my marathon running. I hadn't been able to attain a PR over the last 4 years. My previous PR was a 3:38 in 2004. In 2005, I ran Boston in 3:41. After those 2 marathons I was never able to break 3:42 and I was discouraged that I was always stuck at that same pace. I had Boston coming up and my ultimate goal was to PR there, or at least beat my time from 2005. Sonja coached me these last several months by incorporating a lot of speed workouts as well as hill training and marathon specific long runs. She set my goal finish time at 3:28:26, which I honestly thought was unrealistic, but Sonja had faith in me. When I approached the starting line at Boston I was relaxed and felt Sonja had prepared me for what I was trying to accomplish. At mile 16, when the big hills began, I still was right on target. I knew Heartbreak Hill at mile 21 would be the determining factor of how I would finish out. When I finally reached the top of Heartbreak the girl next to me said "We made it!" and we both shouted out. Still feeling strong at this point, my goal seemed actually attainable. I felt incredible until mile 24, and by that time I knew I could "Hang-on" (as Sonja would say). I crossed the finish line at 3:28:12 (Only 14 seconds off her goal time for me) which I thought was absolutely amazing on Sonja's behalf. This proved that Sonja is an expert at what she does. Her positiveness and encouragement make her a truly wonderful coach and friend! Thank you so much Sonja for helping me to reach my goal. I would have never been able to do it without you!
